90 companies for polluting the sea and rivers, reports Digesa
Lima January. 06 .- During 2007, identified 90 companies that asked the health authority authorized to be discharged into the river or the sea and liquid wastes are polluting, said the executive director of the Directorate General of Environmental Health (Digesa), Fausto Roncal Vergara .
"Right now, these companies are in the process of administrative sanction according to the provisions of the standard, which in this case could amount to an amount of 2 to 50 UIT."
Roncal Vergara reported are companies in different fields, such as fishing, mining and even the service providers, who have treatment plants and discharge wastewater directly cities.
clarified that rivers have been affected northern, central and southern Chile and the Peruvian sea.
According to the provisions of the General Water Law, the Ministry of Health, through its status Digesa health authority, anyone who wants to pour its liquid waste into the waters of the country must have a permit.
"Everyone who wants to use a river, sea, lake or pond to discharge their liquid waste must have a health permit issued by the Digesa previously. The company must prove it will not pollute the waters or the environment, "he said.
